So, I love helping out other small businesses – especially when their products hold a spot in my own heart. I’m tired of the toys that are made for kids – they are plastic crud that simply doesn’t hold up, and I’m not even so sure that most of the stuff is safe (as I cringe when my daughter puts plastic near her mouth). Wood toys, however, withstand the test of time and are safe for your kiddos! I’ve been to the house, yes house, where these are made… in a nice basement area woodshop. Each of these toys are fully designed and hand created by Brad Theiss, The Sawdust Woodshop’s owner. Not only do I love these for playtime, but **hint hint** photographer friends… these are great toys for picture time, they keep a child’s hands busy, while looking stylish, vintagy and adorable! The pictures below are some product samples – and my daughter (the fantastic model) had a great time playing with each of them. She is IN LOVE with the crayon truck, and you can see her obvious feelings toward the hippo, also dubbed, her “baby”.

A blurb from The Sawdust Woodshop’s website:
“The Sawdust Woodshop is based in the Columbus Ohio area and makes the highest quality handcrafted toys and furnishings. We believe in the power of handmade wooden toys on a child’s development. With all of the junk toys out there, you can rest assured that all of our toys are handcrafted and kid safe.”
