Dressing for Your Session

Toddler/Children/Family Sessions
Many people like the simple “everyone wear white or black with jeans or khaki’s”. This is an option, however, I often try and steer people away from matching. Why? It shows zero personality. White, also, is very hard for portraits. It’s not always flattering, and can make people look washed out.

My suggestions:
Classic Session – to stay simple

Colorful- to have some fun

While these suggestions are helpful in guiding you, please keep in mind that your body type and clothing that flatters YOU and your children are the best choices. A tip? Capped sleeves and tank tops on women are almost always not flattering in portraits- unless of course you have rocking steel arms!

Newborn Sessions
The baby? Easy, peasy! Naked. For the family shots? My suggestion is simple. Simple colors, light patterns, and most importantly whatever Mom is comfortable wearing.  Dark colors and forgiving roomy tops (and in all honestly-maternity pants) are helpful in the few weeks following birth. Family portraits tend to focus on faces for newborn sessions.
